I wish I had been claimed
Being treated as an outdated object makes you feel like you can be claimed
In an auction or as the property of a last will

I wish someone would claim me
Take me away in a box made to fit me comfortably
Padded and wide and filled with bubble wrap
To make sure it doesn't scratch any of my pointy edges

I wish I had been claimed by anyone or anything
That would tell me what to do, when to do it and how not to fail every single thing I try
I wish they'd put me to sleep too

I used to say I would be damned if I were compliant.
